- Targeted at the thought of paperless governance, DigiLocker may be a platform for issuance and verification of documents & certificates during a digital way, thus eliminating the utilization of physical documents.
- Indian citizens who check in for a DigiLocker account get a fanatical cloud space for storing that's linked to their Aadhaar (UIDAI) number.
- Organizations that are registered with Digital Locker can push electronic copies of documents and certificates (e.g. driver's license , Voter ID, School certificates) directly into citizens lockers.
- Citizens also can upload scanned copies of their legacy documents in their accounts. These legacy documents are often electronically signed using the eSign facility.
The platform has the subsequent benefits
- Citizens can access their digital documents anytime, anywhere and share it online. this is often convenient and time saving.
- It reduces the executive overhead of state departments by minimizing the utilization of paper.
- Digital Locker makes it easier to validate the authenticity of documents as they're issued directly by the registered issuers.
- Self-uploaded documents are often digitally signed using the eSign facility (which is analogous to the method of self-attestation).
